As many of you know Art Basel Miami just ended this past weekend. I unfortunately did not attend, however a few months ago I did find myself in Miami for 22 hours. As an ode to Art Basel I pulled together the photos from my trip to show you what Miami art is all about. I have to give the city some major credit because before I went there I never thought I would like the city. With that being said, I really loved my time there and would love to go again, especially for Art Basel.
I’ve always had a true appreciation for art and what the artists do in Miami is different from any place I’ve ever traveled to. From the colors, the graphics, the symbolism and messages conveyed through the paint and sculptures. The murals are no joke, they cover entire buildings and if you’ve ever tried to paint before then you can only imagine planning these works of art at the scale they are. My favorite place in Miami, as many probably agree, is Wynwood AKA the meca of urban art. This is where you can walk down any street and find art, it is considered one of the largest open-air street-art installations in the world. There’s so much to do in this small downtown area. Grab a bite at Coyo Taco (the line moves fairly quickly!), wander in and out of eclectic retail shops or just stroll the side walks and wander tthrough the Wynwood Walls.
Below I have posted several photos from the Miami Design district(aka where are you can do all of your luxury shopping) to the Wynwood art district.
I hope you guys get the chance to visit and maybe you’ll see me there for Art Basel 2017!
