So some of you may or may not know that I have officially moved to Brooklyn! That’s right, after living in almost every borough in New York City, I have finally made it to the infamous Brooklyn. When I first moved to NYC 6 years ago(yikes!) to attend FIT, I had no idea what a “borough” even was, but after living in Chelsea then moving to Midtown and then to West Harlem, Washington Heights, the Bronx and then back to Hamilton Heights, I feel like it’s only time that Brooklyn would be next in the lineup. So here I am, 6 years later, just tryin’ to be a cool Brooklyn girl (just kidding…we all know I’ll always just be a semi-cool girl from Maine LOL)
With all that being said, I created this look a few weeks ago and I knew I really wanted to photograph it. I got this window pane dress from Madewell (on sale now here) which has become one of my favorite places to stop by and check out easy summer dresses. I love dresses with buttons down the front and I like how this one has such a simple, classic cut, but with modern details like the side cutouts. I wanted to make the dress a little edgy, a little more “Brooklyn”(can I say that?), so instead of a flat or sandal, I wore these Puma sneakers and my leather jacket from Italy. Accessorizing, I added lots of gold including a vintage name necklace from someone in my family and these cool new frames I picked up at Urban Outfitters, which according to their description should make me look like a “bookworm”. Do you think it worked?
Let me know what you think in the comments below and let me know if you live in Brooklyn!
