When I saw this dress I knew it was going to be great. Yes, it looked like a lot of fabric and a lot of trends going on all at once but I knew it all worked together. I would call it the perfect summertime picnic dress. Below I have listed the 3 wonderful trends compiled into this fun piece.
1. GINGHAM: From dresses to shoes to skirts, tops, scarves and shoes, the well known checkered print is covering it all this summer. Most commonly seen in black/white or red/white color colorways, this summer print is a fun easy way to add a print to your wardrobe without having to wear the classic summer stripe or floral designs.
2. OFF-THE-SHOULDER: We saw the return of the off the shoulder trend return in a major way last summer and haven’t seen it leave since. I personally love a way to avoid “strappy” tan lines on my shoulders while being outside all day. Off the shoulder pieces can be found as tops or in my case a dress. Showing shoulder is also a great way to show some skin in a flirty way without being “too much” so its great for dates or day to night looks.
3. RUFFLE SLEEVES: Spotted during the spring/summer 2017 fashion shows, ruffle sleeves were seen on the runways of designers such as House of Holland, Gucci, Chloe and J.W. Anderson. Ruffles are a fun way to take your sleeves to the next level however avoid doing “too much” by wearing minimal accessories. P.S. Can we coin the term #sleevegame ?
