HOW TO WEAR A SUMMER BLAZER | MENSWEAR
For most us when we think about dressing for summer, we think shorts, tee shirts and sneakers. However, what happens when you want to elevate your look? I know what you might be thinking, it's summer, it's probably going to be too hot, it doesn't seem practical right? Well I'm here to let you know that this couldn't be further from the truth. I feel as if most men have the idea in there head that there is only one type of blazer. You know what I'm talking about, the one that is a medium to heavier weight fabric that most chain retailers sell. Those "general type" blazers are not suitable for summer because they are not linen, seersucker or unlined.
BLAZER OPTIONS FOR THE SUMMER
Linen - Lightweight and breathable, linen blazers help you look smart and stylish while knowing that whatever you wear you're going to be sweating. Linen is much more breathable than cotton due to its lower thread counts. It also has a high moisture absorbancy rate making it ideal for those hot and humid days.
Seersucker - Thin, puckered and made of 100% cotton. This is one of the most common summer suiting due to its cooling properties. The puckering pattern of the lightweight cotton fabric allows greater air circulation because the fabric is being held away from the body.
Unlined Blazer - Many of these linen and seersucker blazers are unlined which add to their breathability. The blazer in these photos is unlined, so that even though it was 92˚F degrees in NYC when we photographed this, I still felt cool and comfortable.
These summer blazers are much lighter and breathable than the usual suit jacket. They are easy to style with a short sleeve tee and a pair of cotton trousers. I like to "pin roll" my pants because it allows more breathability and I can throw on some no show socks with loafers while keeping the look clean and elevated. A summer outfit that is sharp, yet breathable and comfortable.
