BUEN DIA PUERTO RICO
At 4:30am Wednesday morning after a sleepless night, we headed out for our 7am flight to Puerto Rico. Between 4 hours of flight we experienced a lovely 55 degree increase in temperature. Not only was it warm when we first walked out, but the air smelled much more clean and crisp (compared to the fancy NYC air we normally have to inhale). After grabbing our bags we waited for Renee, who is my mum's best friend & owner of the Rainforest Inn, to come pick us up. From San Juan(the largest city & capital of Puerto Rico) we then headed to the rainforest. On the ride there we observed the diverse natural scenery that makes up the island. Puerto Rico is mostly mountainous so as we headed up to the rainforest, we noticed the shift in elevation. The air changed, it got slightly cooler and humid as more and more giant plants surrounded us. Our destination was in the El Yunque National Forest. A mile long private driveway lined with red and pink ginger, heliconia, orchids and other various plants led us to where we stayed. After a few days in the rain forest, we changed locations to a beach front home in the small surfer town of Luiqullo. We will be staying here for a couple days and then going back to the rainforest. It's nice because we get to experience what life is like on both parts of the island and waking up to the bright sun and the sound of the waves is wonderful.
Both of us are excited for what is to come! We are in Puerto Rico until Saturday and then we head to our next destination...but as of now Trussardi and I are enjoying the warm water and working on our tan (he's got me beat..LOL).
P.S. did you know if you have an Antiguan passport you don't have to take off your shoes at security! That's what happened to Trussardi..
