MAINE | THE FRYEBURG FAIR

img_2829.jpg

This past weekend we had the joy of traveling to the Fryeburg Fair during its last weekend. This is a tradition for Nikki’s family every fall but as the family grows up it gets harder and harder for everyone to be home.

We woke up early and headed northwest to Fryeburg, Maine. To give you an idea the journey is about 1.5 hours from Kennebunkport, Maine. When you are young the fair is all about the rides and animals, but as we’ve grown the fair has become all about the food and… the animals. It’s a day where you must forget about healthy diets and instead spend your time smiling with family and friends while eating corndogs and apple crisp while taking photos with cows. (you think we’re kidding, we’re not!)

The Fryeburg Fair has been running for 166 years(since 1851!) and runs for 1 week from October 2 – October 9. It is considered one of the best agricultural fairs in the U.S.

OUR FAVORITE FAIR FOODS:

apple crisp, Jay’s freshmade donuts, corndogs, French fries, blooming onion, maple syrup ice cream.

**Not to be eaten everyday. This is a once a year thing. OUR FAVORITE ANIMALS:

come on now...how can you choose

These two cows are too funny. They look like they're telling each other all the farm gossip!
