THE RAINFOREST INN
During our time in Puerto Rico Trussardi and I had the pleasure of staying at The Rainforest Inn. Renee, one of the owners of The Rainforest Inn picked us up from the airport, driving us from the city of San Juan to the high rainforest of El Yunque where the Inn is located.
The Rainforest Inn is a unique place to stay while in Puerto Rico. We enjoyed its peaceful setting, despite hearing the loud coqui tree frogs at night! However even the coquis added to the symphony of the rainforest sounds that we would never dare complain about!
What Trussardi and I loved the most about this place was that the owners, Renee and Bill built The Rainforest Inn with the idea of trying to be as sustainable as possible. They even provided a sustainability list detailing how they try to involve sustainability practices into almost all parts of the Inn from the original construction to the food sourced for the guests. In the world today, its really important for any business to try and incorporate sustainability practices into their everyday operations.
After breakfast, we had the option to take go on the private "Lost Machete Hike" to a water pool which was developed in a stream of waterfalls. The pool was deep enough to jump in and cool off after the hike.
Our only words of advice: take the walking sticks they have for you! We used them the entire time!
We had a great time relaxing, working out and doing yoga in the quiet yoga room that allows anyone to let go of any extra stress that may be lingering in your mind.
Photographed above was the Villa. We loved this room for various reasons but mostly because of the beautiful hammocks overlooking the rainforest stretching out all the way to the sea.
Below is the jungle suite which has an amazing swinging bed.
Fun fact: Nikki's mum and sister painted the Jungle wall!
Overall we had a wonderful stay and hope to visit again in the future and we'd like to thank all of the wonderful people who helped make our stay so memorable.
The rainforest Inn does has internship/volunteer opportunities which allow you to experience Puerto Rico while helping out with the Inn. If interested you can click here for more information.
